Dive! Dive! Dive!
So, as I mentioned, Morgan had some complications which caused severe damage to the skin on the tops of both her feet. What normally takes a child days to recover, in Morgan’s case can take months.
Well it’s been months, and Morgan has been able to move into step two of the recovery process.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
In short Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is a means of introducing high levels of oxygen into the system to accelerate the healing process, and it seems to be working!
The whole process will take 22 straight days of therapy, for 2 hours each day in the tank! University of Penn’s School of Medicine has the only multi-person tank on the east coast, and most of the patients usually adults. It looks just like the decompression tank from “The Abyss”
While in the tank, everyone is able to watch a movie, unfortunately for the adults Morgan gets to make the selection. I had a bit of a chuckle as Nurse Mary closed the door and told everyone to enjoy Shrek.
While, as cool as it may sound, Morgan is definitely half asleep when she gets out, but perks right back up again when we go to her favorite place in the world… iHop!
