Time Warp…
So, huge apologies for not checking in lately. Technical difficulties with the site that seem to be now fixed! So last we left off, we were SUPPOSED to be in the hospital another 1 -2 weeks. Sure enough, true to Morgan form, the next day Morgan went from 0 cells to count to 100 (which is what is needed for an accurate count) and had an ANC of 732 (we need 200 to be considered to get out). Well this was only 1 day, and counts can go up and down, so we did not get too excited – until the next day when her ANC went up to 2200, and we were OUT! We left with an oral antibiotic without looking back.
Saturday night Morgan had a raised bruise on her leg. We went to the emergency room at 8pm and left Sunday morning at 4:30am with the knowledge that she has an absys, which is an infection in her leg. These are the things we need to be extremely careful about during our prep time for the bone marrow transplant. However, at 4am on Sunday when they said they were going to admit her due to the infection, I may have lost it a little bit. I think the staff started texting Psych based on my reaction to that statement. Not sure if it was my maniac reaction, or something from above, but we did leave the hospital that morning. We can not continue with chemo and drop her immune system. This would leave her suseptible to the infection. Therefore, we treat with antibiotics until we can either asperate or it goes away with the anitbiotics.
Morgan jams as much into her days out of the hospital as possible. When we got out of the hospital on Wednesday afternoon, she turned to me and said “can we have a playdate today?” So she did! As she did every day she has been out of HoJo’s. She went to school today, and plans to be there Thursday and Friday of this week as well. She LOVES going, and will not have many more days there as we cross our fingers for the donor match!
