Ripping off the Band-aid…
I am just going to say it. No sugar coating. The news is not what we wanted and needed to hear. Morgan is not in full remission. The treatment plan Morgan was on works 99% of the time. She was in the 1% that did not respond.
We check back into the hospital Friday for at least a week. Bearing no complications, we hope to be out by Tuesday or Wednesday. During this first week back in the hospital, Morgan will be getting very heavy doses of chemo. The side effects will not be pleasant. Morgan then will come home for about 3 weeks before she heads back into the hospital for more chemo.
We need to have all the cancer out of her bone marrow before they will perform what is needed next – a bone marrow transplant. This will happen in about 8 – 10 weeks. It’s serious, aggressive and necessary. I will keep you posted as we get more news. Right now Morgan is in the pool swimming and enjoing herself. She will not be able to go swimming for at least 6 months, so we want to enjoy it today and tomorrow.
As for visitors….I did ask the doctors, and she is allowed them for now. Not 5 at a time, just 1 friend at a time. If you would like to visit, please e-mail me at amegold@yahoo.com .
