Are We There Yet?
Yeah, haven’t been on in a while, and I know that many of you have been waiting for updates on Morgan’s fight. Cause that’s what we are doing…fighting. The experimental chemo is kicking ass, but kicking hers as well. Morgan’s hair is pretty much out now, and this is very upsetting for her. It’s one thing to know it’s going to happen, it’s another to see it and feel it. Seeing it, just makes everything really real, and for lack of a better word just SUCKS. She’s seems a little more self-conscience this time…probably cause she’s 9 now, so just MORE aware of appearances.
Morgan’s personality is to make people happy, so you won’t hear her complaining to her friends. She wants everyone to think and feel she is OK. She’s not…she’s trying, but she’s just a little girl. We, or really Morgan, is back to taking a bunch of pills everyday, a pneumothorax that we need to fix soon, hair loss, chest pains, sores in her throat, and the list gets longer every day.
Her friends, family and teachers that have been visiting are a HUGE help lifting her spirits. Disney is hand delivering a copy of the new movie Tangled that just came out in theaters, because my brother wrote to them and asked if she could view the movie while she is on quarrantine! Chai Life came by and delivered a box bigger than her, full of Hannukah presents that overflow her room. Her class sent her an American Girl doll (that I swear watches me while I sleep)! All of this helps Morgan forget for just a few moments that we have a long road ahead.
Morgan’s current menu consists of sushi (California rolls), chicken fingers, fries, chicken noodle soup, Ritz Crackers, Pepperidge Farm Lido cookies, Special K, cooked carrots and hot chocolate with a milk base…Sooooo she is eating…
Her numbers seem to be following the downward spiral that the doctors want. We are probably in for another 2 weeks, but will be returning to school for a short-modified-time, just like before. She’s looking forward to that…gives her something to focus on for her future.
