Last year, Morgan was invited to the Kids Choice Awards with her extended family – The Nagins – but with her relapse, that was postponed due to her second transplant. 2012 proved to be starting off as a great year, and THIS year she was able to attend.

What an amazing time she had with Sarah, Alex and Melissa! Nickelodeon really knows how to treat the kids right. Morgan was up at 4am, and ready to go on the 6 hour flight…that she did NOT sleep through. The pre-party to meet the actors from Nickelodeon, the hospitality suites, the awards show itself, and charachter breakfast made the entire weekend exhausting and exhilerating! We have tons of pictures, but even more memories that she will have forever!

Morgan continues to get stronger and better acclimated to everyday life.  Things are starting to move from recovery mode, to, “I’m back in the saddle mode, lets roll!”

Last you heard Morgan added 8 more stitches to her portfolio. The Doctors did a great job fixing her up, and 2 days later you wouldn’t have even known anything had happened, she was right back in the fray.

Lunch with Teacher Betsy, snakes in the classroom, The Lorax, The Flower Show, and a special One year Anniversary party all made for a pretty busy month.

Morgans stitches are now gone, and her leg is healing nicely.  She can get around fairly well, and only uses her wheelchair when she has to travel any distance, and she gets better at physical therapy with each passing session.

We decide the best course of action is to go visit our friends at CHOP. The good part is we can call ahead and are immediately moved into a comfortable room. The bad part is that we are in that room for about 6 hours, no matter what happens.

The Doctors take these things very seriously, and the decision is finally made to move Morgan to surgery to repair her leg. Morgan does an amazing job getting through surgery, and the doctors did a great job with the repair.

The goal now is for Morgan to rest and let her leg heal as quickly as possible. She is already on her way, as I’m sitting here writing, she is gently sleeping with her snoring horsey pillow who has been with her from the beginning.

School seems to be going very well, and she is definitely motivated.  She actually tells me when she needs to do her homework.

Her foot is getting much better and will hopefully start to heal faster now that she seems to be over the hump.  That’s all for now, we’ll keep you all posted.

Morgan was so excited to be back at School.

Morgan had a GREAT time in Disney and made many new friends!  A very special thanks to Elisheva, and the friends and family of Chai Lifeline!

Morgan had an absolutely wonderful time, and had many great stories to tell us about the things she did, and the new friends she made.  Her trip was a great opportunity to get out and about with other children who face the same types of challenges she faces on a daily basis.

One of the high points for us was when we spotted her at the airport we had run right past her and had to circle back to meet her.  She actually spotted us first and as Mama made a mad dash for Morgan I could hear Morgan saying “I want to stand up”, “I want to stand” so she could show us her latest success.

Mama hugged her so hard I think Morgan lost her breath for a moment.  It was a great moment!  Not only was it a joy to see her so happy, it was wonderful to feel her triumph to be able give stand up hugs once again!

Thanks again to GREAT people at Chai Lifeline for affording Morgan this trip of a lifetime!  We quite simply can’t begin to tell you how much your genuine commitment to helping others has made a life changing impression on us we will never forget!

Well it’s very late but I wanted to bring everyone up to date on Morgan’s trip to Disney!  Morgan is having a blast!  So much so that the conversations have been very short, and too few, but i guess that’s what happens when your that excited!

Sunday morning started very early, and Morgan was veerrry excited about getting to the airport to Meet Elisheva from Chai Lifeline who is her Buddy for the trip.  She popped right up and started running me down her checklist to make sure we had everything before heading to the airport.

Once she was sure we had everything we were on our way.  We met Elisheva, and the two of them went off through the security checkpoint.

As I watched from a distance, I could see the security officer talking to Morgan.  I couldn’t make out what they were talking about but I could see the huge smile on Morgans face which made me feel good because she was so happy, and excited that she wanted to tell everyone about her trip.

We received confirmation that Morgan touched down in Florida, and the rest of the story is in the pictures.  We’ll keep you posted as the report come in.

We get to the museum,  make our way through the maze of ramps, and finally reach our destination, CSI!  We listen to the CSI briefing, receive our clipboards and are directed to “Crime Scene 2″.  Our job is to observe every possible clue at the scene, and write our notes on the clipboards for later reference at the labs.

Morgan starts right in pointing out things she thinks are important, and then starts to speculate scenarios based on her observations.  I’m stunned!  So we press on.

As we move through the various labs, we are able to learn more details based on the lab results and how they relate to our notes.  As we move to the last two labs we suddenly realize that we are about to be late for our viewing of the 3D Dinosaur film thats about to start.  We rush through the last two labs and solve the crime!  We think…

We make it to the film just as it starts and spend the next twenty minutes dodging dinosaurs.  It was a great day for both of us and there was lots of conversation back home.

So the Great News is Morgan managed to an excursion of her own!  Morgan managed to get herself up off the couch, and walk on her own from the living room all the way to the bedroom.  Granted, not a huge accomplishment of us, but for Morgan it was a tremendous leap of faith.  But wait there’s more!

Morgans results from her most recent clinic visit were nothing short of spectacular!  While Morgan is still working her way though several issues, her counts were through the roof.  The highest they have been so far.

I wonder if it has anything to do with her upcoming Disney trip?
