Playing hooky…

January 31st, 2009

Since Morgan’s 2nd grade class was away on an all-day outdoor fieldtrip, the two of us went out to play.  When Morgan was in the hospital for the 30+ day stay, she missed several movies she had been hoping to see.  No worries, they come out on video so quickly today anyway.  However, we were [...]

Snow days…

January 29th, 2009

We planned on being back at school yesterday, but Mr. Snowfall had a different idea.  I convinced Morgan to let me sleep in a little - thank goodness, I got to sleep until 7am!  Thanks to Rachel for the great playdate during our school day off!  The home care nurse came by yesterday to make [...]

First Green Light…

January 27th, 2009

Thumbs up for leaving the hospital today. Morgan currently is at Art Therapy.  She watches the clock like a hawk on art days, and makes sure she is there as soon as the doors open!  She is in great spirits, and plans on going to regular school tomorrow.
As long as we do not get any [...]

The sun will come out…

January 27th, 2009

Tomorrow (or today if you are reading this Tuesday) we hope to be leaving the hospital baring no fever around 3pm.  We hopefully will stay out of the hospital for 3 weeks before we head back in for another 5 days of heavy chemo.  During our time out we will wait for results letting us [...]

School days…

January 26th, 2009

We are on day 3 of Morgan’s chemo treatments.  So far so good.  Hardest part seems to be the mouth care of mouthwash rinse to help prevent the severity of her mouth sores.  I bought some similar mothwash so that we can swish, gurgle, and spit together.  The minty flavor seems to burn her mouth, [...]

Update from sedation…

January 23rd, 2009

We came into the hospital at 8am this morning…with Morgan of all things - HUNGRY!  They took her in for her Broviac (I am sure this is spelled incorrectly), LP and her first new dose of chemo.  She came thru the procedure wonderfully.  We are currently waiting for her to wake up and say that she [...]

Ripping off the Band-aid…

January 21st, 2009

I am just going to say it.  No sugar coating.  The news is not what we wanted and needed to hear.  Morgan is not in full remission.  The treatment plan Morgan was on works 99% of the time.  She was in the 1% that did not respond.
We check back into the hospital Friday for at [...]

No bones about it…

January 15th, 2009

Morgan had her bone marrow aspiration today.  She did GREAT.  IV - no problem.  She told me that if you just breathe through it, and just decide that it won’t hurt, it won’t! Her only complaint was that she was so hungry.  She had to stop eating as of 11pm last night, and her procedure [...]

He’s baaaaack….

January 12th, 2009

Bruno, that is (the picture above is not Bruno - but close.) Our 11-year old pug. The Rosin family was SO amazing to take in our other child over this ordeal. I do not know how I can thank them. It was such a relief to know he was in good hands [...]

Somewhere over the weekend…

January 11th, 2009

Fridays results from her treatment were, in my opinion, very good. Morgan seems to be “growing” her own white and red blood cells, and her ANC is 2107! When we left the hospital it was 328. Therefore, we are planning to be in school at least Monday - Wednesday this week.
Morgan started off [...]
